Archive for December 2009
On Dec 21, 2009 at 12:46:35 pm est in Washington DC, we reach the time of year of the Winter Solstice (Sun 00Cap00:00), the shortest day of the year.
The Sun will rise with Fixed Star Altair, the Alpha Star of Aquila, The Eagle; keywords: boldness, courage, dogged determination, and risk-taking, but anyone influenced by Altair may be guilty of bloodshed. (Robson.)
Considering the further trek America is about to take down the war path in Afghanistan, perhaps a link to violence is to be expected.
Besides the Solstice, Dec 21, 2009 happens to be the day of a US Moon Return (Sibly Moon 27AQ10) with the astrological Moon in a mundane chart representing the people, the public, the masses. Our nation’s Lunar Return occurs a mere ten minutes after the Winter Solstice becomes exact!
Dec 21 is also the day of the third and final Great Conjunction of the speculator pair, Jupiter and Neptune, occurring upon the US Sibly Moon – quite a celestial pile-up of synchronicity for the American people which indicates the importance of this particular Winter Solstice.
You remember the midpoint picture being formed on top of our noggins:
Jupiter/Neptune = US n Moon: becoming involved in speculation, instability, wastefulness; uncertainty about what is real and what is not; going with the wind; a desire to dream; losing oneself in plans.
Sounds familiar, yes?
So let’s check out the Sun-Moon blend of 2009′s Solstice chart to see if anything resonates for you. This is an Earth-Air blend which together describes productive, rational, efficient energies; at its best Earth-Air melds absract thought with talent for dealing with practical matters. Objectivity and a scientific approach are evident for this is an elemental blend of practical idealists with far-reaching goals in mind.
Sounds pretty good unless a ‘dry as dust’ flavor is allowed to creep in because emotions and the ‘unquantifiables’ of life may be lost touch with.
When Sun is in Capricorn and Moon in Aquarius we have insight, diligence, and professionalism; personal ambition mixes with respect for the rights and well-being of others; privacy is required yet an up-front friendliness and independence are shown in elegant fashion; music, dance, art, and poetry are much appreciated and perhaps pursued.
Noel Tyl gives this blend as: ‘Ambition finds fresh applications, probably through humanitarian or social service channels; there is stability of purpose and performance that brings success; innovation is the goal, significance the prize.’
If any of this reminds you of President Obama, I agree – especially since he travels to Oslo Dec 10, 2009 to collect his Nobel Peace Prize. Whether you think he’s done much yet to deserve it or not, the president receives a ‘prize’ of ‘significance’ although the ceremony occurs 11 days before the Winter Solstice we’re considering here.
But as you know in Astrology, sometimes things happen ‘early’ and it’s possible that other significant prizes are on the Universe’s menu as well…
Sun Cap-Moon AQ’s ‘Images for Integration’ are: ‘A prophetic poet is awarded high honors…Having struggled unaided to the peak, a mountaineer hitches a ride on a passing helicopter…An historian points the way to the future.’
(‘Sun Sign-Moon Sign’ Charles & Suzi Harvey.)
Well, realistically that’s about as ‘sweet and light’ as I can get with the Winter Solstice 2009 chart with its subsequent sway over US and world events. (Guess I hang out with Politics too often and long.)
If you wish, you may read more details in the Political or Mundane Astrology vein and see an image of the chart set for Washington DC along with my notes which mainly concern war escalation into Afghanistan, for I believe it shows all too well in the horoscope for Winter Solstice 2009.
Ahead of President Obama’s announcement this evening of our misdirected war escalation in Afghanistan there’s this argument to consider.
And here’s what I published earlier today showing the natal chart of Afghanistan with current planetary positions for Dec 1, 2009 added.
You’ll notice that restrictive Saturn in early Libra has been and will be conjoining Afghanistan’s natal Pluto, a period when power and authority issues are foremost, and situations come along that are too large to handle which results in a loss of control.
If you follow the above link you’ll find my wondering aloud if Mr. Obama and his neocon colleagues are intending the new escalation to bring about regime change in Afghanistan. But at the least, taking over (government, pipelines, poppy fields?) seem to be at the top of the imperialists’ to-do list.
Yeah, I voted for him, too. But just look at the alternative which was really no alternative at all. False choices are all we get anymore!
