With a snow storm said to be on the way for Georgia (our turn) I thought a little Art for Friday would be good – something with a Crescent Moon since we’re in the Balsamic or dark phase of the Moon now. So here is ‘Blue Trumpet Flower Under Crescent Moon’ for you (because drawing the dark of the Moon would be futile, wouldn’t it?)
New Moon 25AQ18 Feb 13, 2010 Saturday @ 9:51 pm est; with the various versions of America’s natal chart our natal Moon (the people; the public) ranges from 18AQ to late AQ so we may say that this New Moon is personalized for the American people (or for whomever may have this Lunar position in their charts.)
Sabian Symbol ’26AQ’ = “A Hydrometer”…Keyword: EFFICIENCY.
positive expression: exceptional ability in manipulating the fundamental complexities of living;
negative/unconscious/shadow side: self-defeating worry over trifles.
(‘The Sabian Symbols in Astrology’ by Marc Edmund Jones.)
Yes, it is self-defeating to worry over what are or may be, mere trifles.
Jones goes on to explain that this degree is about ‘capitalizing on any difficulties that arise’ and that is my wish for you, lone reader, at the beginning of a new cycle of activity at this, a New Moon in Aquarius. For after all, the New Moon’s Illumination Point (an unconscious point opposite each degree) has for its Keyword: “A RAINBOW”!
It’s Friday again, day of art-loving Venus, planet of relationships and love. Have you had dinner yet?
Because it’s time for Dinner at Delphine’s!
And if you’re age 17+, more such relationship art and friskier stuff may be viewed at:
(You’ll find an Art Slideshow in the sidebar column.)
And for Art Downloads try:
In the mood for Moon Art or a Botanical rendering? Mosey over to:
Perhaps I’ll run into you on an art site somewhere while you’re ’smirking the weird’ as Jimmy Fallon calls it. And you know you do.
As we drove back today from Raleigh NC to the Athens GA area, it was obvious that NC was third in line, SC was second, and my home state of Georgia was first in the Spring Bustin’ Out All Over department.
Rolling green meadows and pastures – a very cool one with cows and horses fraternizing contentedly – lined both sides of the highway once the Georgia border was reached as if someone had flipped on the greenery switch.
The ‘wide place in the road’ named Ila, GA was particularly spring-like with pink-blooming plum trees, yellowbell bushes a bit past their prime but still beautiful with their willowesquely drooping branches, and Bradford pear trees whose white blossoms were in process of giving themselves over to pale green leaves.
March 20 officially marks Spring Equinox for 2009 so get out your puddle jumpers and ‘brellas because in southeastern US – and soon the whole of creation where applicable – it’s time to flower.
And since each one of us is the’ flowering of his/her generations’, how would you like a Tulipa ‘Maytime’ portrait for starters?
Monday is the Moon’s day and since the Aquarian Solar Eclipse is fresh (occurring here at 2:55 am est), I thought a shout-out to Luna on her day was a good way to begin the week.
Drawing: Prismacolor oil, Rexel Derwent watercolour pencils (dry) on black paper; perpetrated by Jude Cowell, natal Moon in Pisces, Sun in Capricorn.
So now, for all of us who were born with Sun in Capricorn-Moon in Pisces:
Sun Cap-Moon Pisces (Earth-Water): scientist and poet; a pragmatic dreamer; an imaginative organizer; tough and tender; dependable but private; both practical and dreamy.
Self-reflection makes this combo serious and solemn at times but allows deep insight into others’ plights. A natural humanitarian with a penchant for mystery, this blend makes for one who isn’t always sure if she’s the cat’s meow or something the cat dragged in.
Quietly bringing order out of chaos is a talent (which astrologers recognize as a helpful trait!), and there’s a capacity to give form and substance to imagination.
Weaknesses include: fear of the unknown, a pathetic tendency to carry other people’s burdens, and a tendency to lose confidence through negative thought patterns.
The Sun Cap-Moon Pisces blend is shared natally by:
Benjamin Franklin (an astrologer, as you know), Paul Cezanne (one of my top 3 favorite Impressionists), Elvis Presley (well, as a kid I liked his music), J. Edgar Hoover (ee-euww!), Sandy Koufax (saw him play on TV watching baseball with my Dad), Ava Gardner (now there was a beauty), Keith Thomas (author of ‘Religion and the Decline of Magic’), and J. R. R. Tolkein (read ‘The Hobbit’ when it was brand new but couldn’t get through all of The Trilogy, it wore me out! Sorry.)
Let’s hear a peep from Ben – here is one of the more practical bits of advice from Ben Franklin – it’s one of my favorites of his quotes:
‘Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that’s the stuff life is made of.’
And Astrology is what brings the element of Time to the table!
Images for Integration:
‘A wine collector uncorks a rare vintage to celebrate a success…A child builds a sandcastle of reinforced concrete…Bilbo in Tolkein’s ‘Lord of the Rings’…’Bathers in a Landscape’ by Cezanne…Elvis Presley’s ‘Blue Suede Shoes’. (‘Sun Sign-Moon Sign’ by Chas & Suzi Harvey.)
The ‘sandcastle/reinforced concrete’ reminds me of his help in founding America, ya know? Ideal-idea of freedom into manifestation and all that, with Uranus, planet of revolution and rebellion, discovered in 1781 – between the American Revolution and the French Revolution.
So it was Uranus’ creative spark (Plato’s Ideal) poured into Saturnian form, circa 1776, and voila! a New Atlantis: America.
Well, thanks for taking a meander with me down a Moonlight Path on the Moon’s Day. Hope you enjoyed yourself!
See my combo of Sun Cap-Moon Pisces in action as I attempt to blend realism (botanical fish drawings) with imaginary surroundings (seen within their favorite dreams) here:
The above drawing is from:
Tropical storm Fay has killed 4 people already and is on her way toward the Florida Straits and the Gulf of Mexico, and is set to sweep through Cuba first, they said on my TV.
Fay – or ‘Faye’ in my family! - is a faerie-esque name that I’ve always liked and have even used it for one of my archetypal drawings, Faye’s Magic Lamp. Not much magic in stormy Fay, however, and I wish all well who may find themselves in her path.
It does seem that bad weather follows eclipses and August has been replete with Solar and Lunar lunations, hasn’t it? And August, forever my least favorite month, isn’t over yet.
So here’s a small something for the 17+ers (which may be two out of three readers, as I realize daily – otherwise who keeps searching for the word, ‘weed’?)…anyway, you may have seen this drawing’s image on this very blog, but here’s the original publishment of Faye’s Magic Lamp:
And how about a link to a brief Cosmic Art SlideShow for the Moon Art-inclined?
There! now you’re all hooked up, but no weed included, you naughty monkeys…well, except for:
Hope this Art Slideshow displays in your browser but if not, go to http://slide.com/judecowell
and take your pick of several displays of my artwork.
If you’re an artist, you may add an image of your own to one of my collections, but no photos please, and keep to the theme, if you may. Thanks!

So why, Frisky Friday Art? Friday is the day of Venus who appreciates the creative arts! (Perhaps not mine, but generally speaking, she does.)
And it’s my poor attempt to balance the weightier and lamentable subject matter to be found here bwo astrologically based comments on…ugh and arghhh…politics, that organized system of hatreds in process of overtaking, undermining, and overwhelming our lives.
For the majority of our global population, the New Millennium sux so far–and I blame it primarily on racketeering, warmongering, conscience-free sociopaths. How ’bout you?
(And please don’t pretend you don’t know their names.)

Happy Frisky Friday, Y’all!
Kudos to Slide dot com!
Below you’ll find a link to my freshly created Psychedelic Art Slide Show with all images but one coming from my Secret Moon Art gallery: http://secretmoonart.blogspot.com
One drawing, however, ‘Psychedelly Nelly’ had to be included from Cosmic Persona Designs: http://cosmicpersonadesigns.blogspot.com for obvious thematic reasons.
And the cool thing is that Slide’s ‘Prism’ style display uses the colors from each image to create the kaleidoscope effect between each image’s view…very groovy!
