Spring EQ 2014: Sun Aries-Moon Scorpio

On March 20, 2014 at 12:57:09 pm est, the Sun reaches 00Aries00:00 in the Tropical Zodiac and the Spring season begins here in the Western Hemisphere and the 2014 astrological year ensues.

With Sun in Aries, the Mars-ruled sign of warriors and activists, and Moon (We the People in mundane astrology) in the Mars-Pluto-ruled sign of Scorpio, we may glean a bit of information on the character of the season while remembering that all Aries Ingress horoscopes provide a background influence for the entire year.

Aries is a Fire sign, of course, and Scorpio a Water sign and together their energies give something of a steamy nature to the proceedings. Steam purifies but can scorch as well and this supports the Spring EQ 2014 chart implications–have a peek and you’ll see expansive Jupiter rising along with Sirius, a star known as The Scorcher, and the Dog Star.

Plus, in Brady’s Book of Fixed Stars we find Sirius (worshiped in ancient Egypt as Isis–and as a goddess in Washington DC as well–in Sumerian, Inanna) described with keywords, ‘The fire of immortality’ which relates, as you know, to planet Venus as Morning and Evening star…in mythology, descending into the underworld (becoming invisible on Earth) for part of the year.

America’s natal Sun @13Cap19 (July 4, 1776 5:10 pm LMT Philadelphia, PA) conjoins the zodiacal position of Sirius which has actually moved closer by precession and is now positioned at 14Cancer.

So! Spring 2014′s Sun Ari-Moon Sco blend denotes a season imbued with intensity, power, and wit. We’ll be treated to more self-dramatizing from ego-driven Washington and elsewhere along with some back-stabbing from those thought to be friends. (In DC, my former place of residence, you know what they say: if you want a friend, get a dog. Or maybe a Dog Star?)

Cynicism, brazen behavior, and pushiness will be perhaps even more prevalent than usual as the 2014 mid-term election campaigns heat up and politicians attempt to scope points with their constituents. Most people are feeling purposeful this Spring but to whose benefit (?) as self-belief takes the lead. Hidden corners are probed for secrets are always revealed when Scorpio is involved–and, until the April 29th Solar Eclipse (9Tau), we remain under the influence of the 16 North Scorpio Solar Eclipse of November 3, 2013 (11Sco15) with its Uranus-Neptune vibes of bright ideas and welcomed solutions.

All in all, Spring 2014 promises a season and a year of ambition, hard work, and single-minded determination and we’re all ready for new experiences and the bright ideas that bring them. Jupiterian improvement in circumstances and investment in job creation would be welcomed changes, too, yet it seems like Politics, that ‘organized system of hatreds’ (asserted Henry B. Adams), ruins almost everything it touches–and it’s doing so on purpose.

Now with Spring being a time of new beginnings and new life sprouting up, let’s close this post with a quote from an author who was born during a Sun Ari-Moon Sco interlude, one Henry James–imho, his words are a slap in the face of totalitarian Global Government types and puppet monarchists the world over!

“Live all you can…it doesn’t matter what you do in particular, so long as you have lived your life. If you haven’t had that what have you had?”

Wishing a Happy Spring 2014 to All!

Two reactors in Georgia, Full Moon 3-19-11

From the Gross to the Sub-Rhyme

by Jude Cowell

Just in from my hometown newspaper The Banner-Herald comes an update on the two nuclear reactors still on track for construction in the southeastern state of Georgia in spite of the horrid Meltdown in Japan.

Yes, there are differences between power plant designs and the chance of a tsunami claiming one of the nuclear reactors in Georgia is slim to none. But there’s more to consider, if you care to read. The article includes a brief overview of how things stand in the US which may interest a wider audience.

Personally, I don’t like being reminded of the myth of Atlantis which (in one version of the tale) sank due to abuse/misuse of power. The asteroid Atlantis in Mundane Astrology has keywords: ‘abuse/misuse of power; where we feel doomed.’

If this turns out to be the case, I’ll blame the usual cast of wormy characters along with nuclear and other scientists and their institutions, laboratories, and related universities. The IAEA is also suspect in my book – can’t help it.

Uranus = AP an Astro-Factor in Current Troubles

Uranus to Aries Point, the current Solar Eclipse degree 13Cap38 (January 4, 2011) conjoining fixed star Manubrium (a flaring heat), midpoint picture Saturn/Uranus = Pluto: harm through force majeure, Jupiter opposite Saturn, Saturn quindecile Uranus, and other difficult planetary energies and patterns now active in Earth’s atmosphere and the historical timeline are proving too hot for would-be rescuers to handle and too debilitating to Life on Earth for me to keep out of prayer for very long and I must move on mentally and emotionally to a different topic for a while, y’know?

So here are 3 previous posts which concern timely Spring 2011 topics w none of them updated for this linking:

Spring Equinox 2011 (aka, Aries Ingress, or Spring Ingress – basically when Tropical Sun reaches 00Aries00:00, the Aries Point of World Manifestation. 00Lib00:00 and 00Can00:00/Cap are the other three points on the Physical Plane – Grand Cross of earthly existence, and signified by the number 4.

Now I don’t know about you, but I could do with less world manifestation at the moment, agreed? If only the world could have a few moments to catch up. Perhaps a return of Uranian electricity to the power plants will bring solutions for Japan.)

Update 3.18.11: a fresh post in now up concerning the March 19, 2011 Full Moon and its weather-affecting status as a SuperMoon.

A 2nd opinion on the Spring EQ 2010 horoscope

Since 2007 I have posted on this blog concerning equinox and solstice charts but for the March 20 Spring Equinox 2010 horoscope, I’ve used Stars Over Washington.

You may have heard by now that the weekend of the Aries Ingress (Sun 00Aries00) – aka, Spring Equinox – will be a very busy one in our nation’s capital for multiple Anti-War protests are planned. Hopefully, demonstrations of our displeasure with Washington will be effective yet safe for all participants.

So do click to read a second analysis written by one of SO’W’s regular readers, a young astrologer named Jonathan W, who has interesting things to say about the 2010 Ingress chart and the direction of our nation.

Vintage hat of flowers – photo 2

With Spring 2010 on the menu for March 20, I looked in my files for a photo with a spring-like flavor to it and found another in the series of Vintage Hat portraits of a certain 4-year-old who was only 3 when these photos were taken by her Mom. Click for updated photos of Miss V and her baby bro!

Yes, ‘A Vintage Hat of Flowers’ has been quite a popular offering here at Jude’s Theshold so I hope you’ll enjoy another view of a stylish young lady in her flowery hat just waiting for spring to burst out all over…and the more flowers, the merrier!

Spring Equinox 2010: Sun Aries-Moon Taurus

On March 20, 2010 at 1:32 pm edt in Washington, DC, Sun reaches 00Ari00, the Aries Point, and Spring begins. Also known as the Aries Ingress, this is a time of new beginnings, green shoots, and little birdies singing.

At that moment the Moon 26Tau13 will be in 11th house of Groups, Asscociations, Hopes and Wishes in DC. However, this position puts Luna atop a rather difficult Fixed Star, yet in a sensual mood so you may wish to read my recent post at Stars Over Washington where you’ll find an image of the Spring EQ 2010 chart, if you wish to snag a peek.

And yes, for now, the Cardinal T-Square is completed by Sun 00Ari00 opposing Saturn in Libra and pointing to apex Pluto in Capricorn.

But for here and now, let’s consider Spring EQ 2010′s Sun Ari-Moon Taurus blend, a Fire-Earth combo of energies which together evoke images of molten lava and bulldozers! Do these images remind you of the disaster in Haiti, quake though it was? Earth-Fire is the ‘scorched earth’ blend and yet it espresses positively, too. Read on…

Earth-Fire decribes a practical visionary, one who keeps his feet on the ground while instinctively trying for his main chance. Lucrative enterprises can be successfully begun under this influence with its entrepreneurial talents but its shadow hides a dictatorial insensitivity toward others and a powerful ego determined to dominate.

Sun in fiery Aries, Moon in earthy Taurus narrows the combo to one of tactlessness mixed with diplomacy, possessiveness, confidence, and ambition. Tough vs tender, Ari-Tau knows how to enjoy life, loves good food and comforts, and has a natural flair for finances which highlights the stock market for Spring 2010.

Some folk who share the Sun Ari-Moon Tau combo in their natal charts are: Hans Christian Andersen, Pierre Boulez, Elton John, Dianna Ross, Marcel Marceau, Gregory Peck, Wernher von Braun, Rene Descartes, beloved astrologer Howard Sasportas, and Washington Irving who helpfully advised us all that:

“A tart temper never mellows with age, and a sharp tongue is the only edged tool that grows keener with constant use.”

Hmm…to me this sounds like a perfect spur of encouragement for dissenting bloggers everywhere!

Now here are the ‘Images for Integration’ for Sun Ari-Moon Tau which will somehow ‘color’ the Spring of 2010:

“An explorer practices the violin in a jungle clearing…Having won an arduous race, the champion sits down to a gourmet meal.”

(‘Sun Sign-Moon Sign’ by Charles and Suzi Harvey.)

Wishing for All a Happy and Prosperous Spring 2010!
