The Point of No Return
By Mike Whitney
Neither China nor the Saudi princes are buying any more failing investment banks.
They’ll leave that to the US taxpayer.
The Party’s Over
By Patrick J. Buchanan
The Crash of 2008, which is now wiping out trillions of dollars of our people’s wealth, is, like the Crash of 1929, likely to mark the end of one era and the onset of another.
Hey US, Welcome to the Third World!
By Rosa Brooks
It’s been a quick slide from economic superpower to economic basket case.
Paulson and Bernanke Stampede Washington – Continue Raid On The Public Purse Citing Grave
Financial Threats, Officials Ready Massive Rescue
By Binyamin Appelbaum and Lori Montgomery
The Bush administration is urgently preparing a massive intervention to” revive” the US financial system, including a plan to sweep away the unpaid loans that are choking banks and blocking the flow of money to borrowers. – Paulson and Bernanke presented a “chilling” picture of the state of the financial system, according to a participant in the meeting who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Did you vote for George Bush? Just wonderin’ since he’d never succeeded at any business venture before 2000 and look at him now – bailed out by US taxpayers again.
Of course, conspiracy theorists think this economic collapse is part of the one-world-government plans that were put in place decades ago. Or centuries ago if you subscribe to the Great Seal’s reverse-with-its-all-seeing-eye theory.
Watching Bush, Cheney, Greenspan, and now Bernanke and Paulson in action, I find it difficult to discount the conspiracy theory that they know what they’re doing and that the economic, governmental, and social net failures of America were on the menu all along.
If so, these social tinkerers think that the chaos they are creating is “worth it” especially since they will never suffer as will we, and that their longed-for New World Order is only possible by destructuring society’s systems to make way for for a new start.
Pluto in Capricorn.
You know I still use Bush’s first Inaugural chart 2001 to represent all of his tenure with its 8th house (debt, credit, insurance, finance, shared resources, death, transformation, etc) full of Pluto and Chiron snugged around the Moon in Sagittarius…the People, crowded by the violent and oppressive corporatism/fascism pair, Pluto/Chiron. Its ‘too close for comfort’ flavor is out in the open now, isn’t it? Too late, the trap is sprung!
So my facetious “thanks” goes out to all who voted for George Bush. Now will you compound the issue and give Bush a vote of “confidence” by voting for John McCain? Pluto may be in Capricorn but we don’t have to hand them our heads on plates. Actually we already did that in 2000 and again in 2004. Yeeks. And we couldn’t even get Bush-Cheney impeached to show our displeasure!
But it’s 2008, and as I always say: a vote for John McCain is like a vote for Karl Rove – and that most definitely includes Sarah Palin, the lure. The Angler has spoken (aka Cheney, who must be quite smitten with Palin.)
So even if Barack Obama moves into the White House, his opponents ‘have ways’ and have shown themselves capable of ANYTHING to keep their grasp on power and their agenda on track.
Another option is that Obama plays the game their way and the American people are still in the soup. Rise up? Laws are in place to tamp us down. They call it ‘martial law’ but by then most people will realize what it really is – if they don’t already. Perhaps we’ll be too cowed and hungry to murmur our disapproval. “A hungry man is not a free man.” I disremember who said it, but it’s all too true.
Woo! After seeing the lovely and hilarious Craig Ferguson in concert last evening, you’d think I’d be in a lilting mood today. But one quick look at this morning’s news and the Craig glow fades all too soon…just a glance at the latest doings of those cheeky monkeys of Washington who are ruining our children’s and grandchildren’s lives puts me back in my political snit of miffdom all over again.
This is a fairly comprehensive list of culprits:
Is your name on the list?
Washington and the world’s financial ‘wizards’ are in process of announcing a “new world economic order” – and just when many people had honed their scoffing at the idea of a New World Order, too…how inconvenient to be so wrong.
And who can forget those halcyon days (four years ago) when the pope called for a New World Order?
Well, he can’t say ‘everything’s coming up roses’ anymore, so when George Bush spoke from the Rose Garden at the White House this morning, I looked at the Scorpio rising horoscope to find a YOD (Finger of God pattern – two planets sextile at base, both inconjunct a third, apex planet) which is a configuration of crisis or special task or purpose….a critical point where every action matters tremendously.
The YOD involves Moon, Uranus, and Mercury, and of course, Uranus often brings crises all by itself.
Moon 22Tau+ was also triggering the last Great Conjunction degree of societal planets Jupiter (expansion) and Saturn (restriction) of May 28, 2000:
“23Tau” = “A Jewelry Shop Filled with the Most Magnificent Jewels” so you know it isn’t the American people ‘racking up’ here. (Jupiter = Republicans, Saturn = Democrats.)
Uranus, another planet in the YOD pattern is Rx at “21Pis” = “A Little White Lamb, a Child, and a Chinese Servant.”
Mercury, planet of speeches and announcements, is at “22Libra” = ” A Child Giving Birds a Drink at a Fountain” – and the ‘fountain’ seems to be the public trough oink oink. “Child” is probably you and me, including in the Sabian Symbol mentioned below for Neptune.
The YOD as a midpoint picture?
Moon/Uranus = Mercury: suggestive thought power (Bush hopes): great mental activity (they’ve had their noggins together figuring out what to do and say); sudden cognition and perception; expecting a surprise; innovative ideas.
In a YOD, apex Mercury is the masterful communicator and social enlightener who can appear out-of-tune with the environment – kind of like Rx Mercury – and who may not be speaking in a clear, direct manner. There is a disjointed quality to his communication, perhaps indicated here by a lack of details concerning the ‘broad package’ and ‘new agency’ which the ‘experts’ are working on for next week’s delivery.
More socializing of private debt on the way as they ‘bail out’ their friends on Wall Street at the expense of Main Street. And with Mercury one degree from its Rx Station we’ll be hearing these themes again and again as economic issues are reviewed and rehashed. Mercury passes its shadow degree at the end of October and perhaps the discourse can move on then.
Sun “28Virgo” = “A Bald-headed Man Dominates a Gathering of Natonal Figures”…Paulson, it would seem…unless it’s Cheney!
And during Bush’s short Rose Garden presentation this morning, tr Neptune 21AQ58 Rx crossed the Ic in DC – the Foundation of the Matter, and not where you’d like dissolving, deceptive Neptune to be…
“22AQ” = “A Rug Placed on the Floor for Children to Play On”…as the lame duck prez attempts to put a bottom underneath the economic free fall which he, with his cohorts and enablers, created.
And here’s a nugget concerning one of Bush’s enablers, that deregulating John McCain who has a POW secret to hide:
You may or may not remember but Lehman Brothers was in a big pickle back in 1984, which brings Reagan Republicans into the crisis picture to join John McCain’s lack of economic savvy a la 2008:
2008 minus 1984 = two Jupiter cycles…so let’s all repeat the Republican’s Jupiter Mantra: ‘Every day in every way I’m getting better and better’ – as if expansion never has to end, and the piper never has to be fully paid.
The Solar Eclipses of 1984 are the 10 North (May 30; 9Gem) and 4 South (Nov 22; 1Sag):
4N: illusions, separations, restraints, inhibitions, and restrictions are the hallmarks of this Series; events cause blockages which result in misjudgment of situations or strength; best advice is to wait until Eclipse passes before taking any real action.
Last manifested June 10, 2002 (20Gem)…Pre-natal Eclipse Series of Israel (May 14, 1948; 4:00 pm eedt; Tel Aviv.)
4S: very strong emotional feelings concerning money and/or relationships; anger, lust; sense of fatedness as we’re caught up in events beyond personal control; could be a sudden desire to finish a relationship; emotions are blocked or checked in some way leading to much frustration; avoid rash actions until issues settle down. (Brady’s ‘Predictive Astrology.’)
Last manifested Dec 4, 2002 (11Sag58 conj US natal ASC~Sibly, and conj Dec 30, 1999′s Great Conjunction of Pluto and Chiron~plutocracy; corporatism)…Pre-natal Eclipse Series of the Bush-Cheney Iraq Invasion 2003.
Needless to say, Bush-Cheney did not avoid rash actions.
President Andrew Jackson tried to warn us about this sort of thing – unelected private money men who have too much influence on our financial system and thus on our entire society. All of this instability, loss, greed, and fraud have been occurring - under their ‘watch.’ They’re the “experts.”
Jackson hated the Bank of America. And he was wrong about a lot of things – slavery, stealing Indian lands, women’s rights - but he was spot-on about corporations and their vulturing.
Look at the power they hold now.
No interest rate cut today – inflation still a possiblility, the Fed said.
Since I was skulking around my other politically flavored blog, Stars Over Washington, for financial posts and tidbits, I ran across an entry from the day before Ben Bernanke gave his first stateement as Fed chairman - written in expectation of it, in fact.
Then Hank Paulson took a demotion from Goldman-Sachs to US Secretary of the Treasury, so a few natal chart details were called for, so I nosed into Paulson’s ‘maverick’ status…and here again is a link for you with a quote on “the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations” from Thomas Jefferson closing out the post.
Something tells me Thom would be disappointed in how America has turned out on that score…
And here’s the one about Ben’s first shout out as Fedhead…
Seems Wall Street is almost dead and I’m not feelin’ so well myself…howbowchu?
Is the August 16 Lunar Eclipse’s paranoia making itself felt? Emotions play a large part in meltdowns, so stop it, Y’all. Calm down. You know the good folk of England are suffering now as well, and in New York tomorrow, time is running out for Lehman Bros, among others.
The fact that so many institutions and systems are global makes the fall – worldwide. Not such a brilliant plan unless you Want the crash to be worldwide. And it is. Congratulations, world bankers.
Well, in the olden days of ritzy Robber Barons, JP Morgan rode to America’s rescue. Yet all the power elite can blab now is: Obama’s tax relief plans would use taxation to “redistribute wealth.”
Isn’t that what America needs? this blogger asked innocently enough.
Yet if a pittance of the Robber Baron class’ wealth were shared with the middle class (forget the poor for now) we’d all be out spending and the country would be in better financial condition instead of the mess the financial “experts” have plunked us into. That it was purposeful I don’t doubt (all for the NWO), but even they may miss us when we’re gone as they laze about Dubai high rise balconies and lounge around on their Paraguay patios, umbrella drinks in hand.
Nah. They won’t miss us. They’ve ‘got theirs’ by hook and by crook. And there seems to be no JP the Second riding in on a white horse to share the moola and keep our nation from drowning underneath the waves which the monied class helped create with usury interest rates on loans that never pay off, and by buying off the US Congress to pass legislation balanced totally in their favor and against the common good.
You know, if several of our well-heeled, oft-touted, and much-toasted billionaires – the ones who made their wealth on our backs – would conglomerate a few of their big bucks together, some honest bailing out could make a real difference about now.
But what are the odds that old JP will rise up and ride again to the rescue?
His modern progeny don’t seem to be interested in anything but forcing and finagling a new economic system, and with the help of Pluto (soon to be in Capricorn again) the deconstructing of all systems is right on track for all but the common good.
Read my Page on JP Morgan’s natal chart and transits where I blabbed more about the current financial crisis than I remembered until just now when I read it again myself…it was written at the time of the Bear Stearns farce and is still the current Lunar Eclipse season (the next one is on Feb 9, 2009 at 21Leo):
You’ll find details on the Lunar Eclipse of August 16 and its market paranoia in the sidebar, too.
And you know what I always say (actually you don’t but I’m about to tell ya) – playing stock market with the criminals of the Wall Street gentry is nothing but gambling, it’s just as stacked in favor of the house as Vegas is, and you know where it all eventually leads. To the alms house.
And let’s remember that all through 2009 we’ll have the Great Conjunctions of Jupiter and Neptune, the Speculating pair, which will occur upon the US natal Moon in Aquarius. Their last conjunction was at 27Cap09 (Jan 9, 1997), conjunct US n Pluto; and on Jan 19, 1984, they met at World Point, 00Cap01 – where Pluto soon will return during the last week of November, ’08.
This gives a midpoint picture of no comfort whatsoever, but you may as well know…
Jup/Neptune = Pluto: plans unreasonable beyond measure; far-reaching speculations; a great loss; major adjustment of life circumstances; self-projection out of hand (Ebertin; Tyl.)
And in 2009: Jup/Neptune = US n Moon: dreaminess; an emotional swoon; going with the wind (or is that, Gone With the Wind?); losing oneself in plans; involved in speculation; instability; wastefulness.
The point is, this triggering of a past hook-up of ‘the Speculators,’ indicates similar issues from 1984 cropping up in 2009.
1984 was a year of two Solar Eclipses: 4 North (29Tau) and 4 South (1Sag)…I must bark more about these Eclipses as time permits…and please remind me if I forget!
At Stars Over Washington the US natal chart (Sibly version, July 4, 1776; 5:10 pm LMT; Philadelphia) has been published with September 2008′s transits to the chart, including a bit about tomorrow’s 7th anniversary of the attacks of 9/11/01:
You’ll find financial indications and the Fed part of the September transit picture as well.
In Astrology we first think ‘Saturn square Saturn’ when we hear the words, ’7 years’ – but the square of transiting Saturn to 9/11′s Saturn is actually not until Sept 26.
Generally when Saturn squares its natal position, there is little flexibility in current circumstances, and people and situations are busy imposing rules, restrictions, and formalities – exercising authority, as it were…plus, fear and seriousness are definitely part of this time frame – no one needs Astrology to tell them that.
(Everyone has a first Saturn-SQ-Saturn to their natal charts – around age 7 when our baby teeth are lost and we become more mature with our adult teeth.)
But the good news is: all this is temporary, for Saturn is the ruler of Time and the promoter of facing reality and responsibilities as karmic debts must be paid off eventually. In fact, the more devotedly we cooperate with Saturn, the more the Old Man likes it. He may even give a helping hand to those who learn his lessons well – especially when there are long-term endeavors involved and a good understanding of what’s at stake.
Therefore, the more individuals wisely cooperating with Saturn, the better it is for the collective as a whole.
But getting all the facts from our government – now that’s the deal-breaker and the tooth-puller, isn’t it?
Yes, you know that. And with precious little consumerism to buck up American finances, the Pentagon’s “loss” of $2.3 trillion will have to do the trick until more can be “allocated.”
But they are not crooks over yonder in that starry 5-pointed fortress, so don’t go thinking that. And a certain amount of mismanagement of funds is to be expected in such a mighty big war.
(Well, in their defence, it IS global, you know.)
Plus, it’s Iraq’s fault for not having the systems in place for accountability (the ones Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld and the Pentagon saw fit to destroy.) Makes it’s hard to pass the bucks but Bush does it quite well as long as they land on someone else’s desk.
Tonight I’ve cast my pea brain back to better times when graying George Bush held his second press conference of the year 2008 – April 29, to be exact – and gave the former big-spending public a shout-out on high fuel and food prices.
Blame Congress, blame the consumer monster you helped create!
Although we were only following our ‘how YOU can help’ orders post-9/11 (which were intoned directly from the megaphone of propaganda) by running up our never-pay-off credit card ‘balances’ toward the Bush-Greenspan promoted Ownership Society.
And you know that President Richard Nixon’s never-pay-off hoofprints still linger over that one.
So if you wish, you may read my real-time post from the TV broadcasting of April 29, 2008′s press gaggle, with a smidge of astrologese-into-English included. And where Bush annointed the presidency of John WOT McCain, because he’ll be the one to continue America’s War Economy better than the other guy:
Perhaps I should’ve titled it: America’s War Economy of the Wasters since Jupiter and Neptune are lining up for 2009 – The Speculators will smooze together once again up close and personal, and if I’m around for 2009, I’ll be listening for the dates of any and all big Federal Reserve sessions, stock exchange hoo ha, other monetary organisational meetings, or Summits from Mt. Olympus. ~:~
update: The Fed will meet Saturday, August 23 at a Jackson Hole, WY Conference with Ben Bernanke as keynote speaker. ‘No post-mortems yet,’ says NPR – the crisis hasn’t yet died. No kiddin,’ Bernie. But the corspe is already stinkin’ up the place from outside your velvet ropes.
