George Bush has ‘self-awareness of a bison’

With former cheerleader and bullhorn handler George W. Bush appearing everywhere these days to promote his rewrite-history book, there are some folk who feel sorry for his dim-wittedness and lack of self-awareness.

Matthew Norman’s How Did This Wastrel Ever Find His Way to the White House? has an interesting point of view.

My own p.o.v. on Dubya is not as generous since Bush, a cog in the Bush Dynastry syndicate, was installed in the White House by a complicit Supreme Court and served at the behest and enabling of the global power elite who used him for 8 years as a “propaganda catapulter”, as Bush described himself while in office.

If he hadn’t pleased them by making ‘decisions’ with few, if any, known facts and by his actions, he would have somehow been de-presidented with a newer, more accomodating model put in place.

In his interview with Matt Lauer, I did hear Bush admit to remembering that the financial crash and TARP both occurred under his watch. I see Financial Collapse 2008 as a crescendo at the end of the Bush Years of Wastrelhood, don’t you?

Elizabeth de la Vega on Prosecuting Torture

You won’t want to miss Robert Ellman’s interview with former federal prosecutor Elizabeth de la Vega who favors public inquiry over President Obama’s appointing a special prosecutor to investigate the Bush administration’s secret and not-so-secret torture policies.

What’s the hurry? Ms. de la Vega points out that the statutory clock didn’t start ticking in 2002 but on Jan 20, 2008, noon edt.

This makes me wonder if those who insist on rushing into an investigation by special prosecutor are more interested in a cover-up than in full accountability for the Bush administration.

Please answer this poll, if you will:

6 Bush adm perps may be indicted in Spain

Professor Marjorie Cohn, who teaches criminal and international human rights law at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, has written an article concerning Spain’s investigation of six Bush officials whose policy development allegedly led to torture at Guantanamo Prison.

http://marjoriecohn.com/2009/04/spain-investigates-what-america-should.html

Universal jurisdiction is the concept and it was used by Israel in prosecuting, convicting, and executing Adolph Eichmann for Holocaust crimes. The United States is not above this law.

If the US would investigate these high-handed miscreants – aka Bush loyalists – other countries would back off from probing the roles of Douglas Feith, John Yoo, Jay Bybee, David Addington, and Willliam Haynes in authorizing torture.

(They’re welcome to Bush and Cheney if  justice is to be served warm!)

So if Spain conducts a trial that results in conviction, any of the 6 perps can be arrested if they travel abroad – which probably leaves the American people stuck with their company, a condition that may be (imho) a torture of its own.

AIG bonuses? Bush and Paulson did it

Regardless of the Obama critiques making the rounds of late concerning AIG bonus payments, the following information is more in line with my own memory from November 2008 concerning the Bush-Paulson Bailout Bill and CEO retention payments.

May all GOPers and their promoters take their ginkgo biloba on schedule so they can remember just Who Was Playing President way back in November 2008:

Sometimes I think there’s no end to how stupid politicians think we are.  That’s when they bring out the usual, tiresome tactics – lying, obfuscating matters, and providing ‘hot-button’ diversionary issues – with the media’s help – like the AIG bonuses which pale in comparison to their ultimate mega-payday compliments of US taxpayers.

My usual guide is this: when a politician or political party says, LOOK HERE at this stew, always look ‘over there’ to see what they have bubbling on the back burner that works against our interests.

It will be much more substantial and long-range than the tacky sideshows and pot-boilers they promote to keep us divided against one another.

Bush’s parting finger to the American people

Good Riddance to the Smirker-in-Chief

No, this may not be Bush’s last ‘parting finger’ extended toward the populace of the US – you know, the ones whose ‘business’ he was supposedly taking care of these 8 years (see: economy, see: US reputation in the world, see: Bill of Rights, see: Justice Dept, etc, etc), but it definitely qualifies for your consideration:

Cheney lays it all at Bush’s doorstep

Wonder if Bush will lay it all on Cheney’s doorstep if the Hague ever calls the war-lovin’ twins to heel…this “George did it” sounds kind of like a mutual agitation society because this is riling, folks:

http://rawstory.com/news/afp/Cheney_expects_total_retirement_fro_01072009.html

Besides, if you think 9/11 was a false flag op  (their “new Pearl Harbor” that they imagined gave their shaky electoral gift from the Supreme Court some legitimacy), then this is just another example of their shell game antics. Now you blame him, now you don’t!

To me, Cheney interviews have always had a strange ‘pull my finger’ quality to them, imo. Forty years he’s been at work in Washington, he says, and now he’s got many rivers to fish back in beautiful Wyoming.

But my hope for America’s future is that he’s got charges to face as he retires from all that bombing, propagandizing, fabricating,  resource cornering and war profiteering.  And giving interviews.

So, as we used to say in these parts: don’t let the screen door hit you on your way out.

Feel sorry for Al Gonzales?

Well, if you do feel sorry for our former Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, you’re in special company – that of Alberto Gonzales:

http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2008_12/016251.php

These sorts of situations once were called being ‘disgraced’ but Gonzo denies the feeling…like Bush playing unaware of the ways he let the American people down and how truly crooked and false they both appear to the rest of the world ‘out there’ – but ‘in there’ they feel fine and self-satisfied to an astounding degree.

Except for Gonzo who’s feeling mighty put-upon by us all and infused with self-pity because we don’t appreciate his service more!

Well, I guess we’ll find out all about it from the book he’s supposedly writing. (He can write?)

Until then, you may wish to check out a post I wrote July 31, 2007 concerning Mr. Gonzales with some Astrology involved:

Bush to leave White House – secrets to go with him

Guess this White House’s so-obvious demonstration in its waning months that there are many secrets to squash and piled-up bodies to hide escapes our Mr. Skull & Bonesman Bush:

http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/20081129_bushs_11th_hour_bid_for_secrecy/

January 20, 2009: I can see Bush and Cheney now in my mind’s eye…high-tailin’ it from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and down the street…a long, long, long line of skeletons in tow like a shadowy conga line…

Did I mention the conga line is long?

Pardon me, boy

Here is a list of Bush pardons as it stands so far with a gaggle of new ones added today:

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5j6mH44rWD9yyZf_AZ7YxQDVFL7WwD94LJ0E80

Of course, some say that Bush will pardon Cheney just prior to pardoning himself.

Personally, I think it should be the other way ’round – or preferrably not at all. Besides, both varmints  continue to pretend they’ve done nothing that merits pardoning what with their illusionary bubble floating far above the rabble and all!

Juan Cole on phoney bin Laden hunt

George's book is upside down

US Bin-Ladin Hunt Phoney

By Juan Cole

The USG Open Source Center
translates an article from the Persian Afghan press alleging that French troops
were at one point close to capturing Usamah Bin Ladin in Afghanistan, but that
American forces stopped them from doing so. – The argument is that the Bush
administration needed Bin Ladin to be at large in order to justify its military
expansionism.

More -isms of the Pluto-Chiron variety…militarism, expansionism, then there’s imperialism, and…Zionism.

Photo: G. W. Bush on the morning of 9.11.01 holding ‘My Pet Goat’ upside down (is book choice a shout-out to the Goat of Mendes? or a mere coincidence? But wait! Goats climb mountains, bin Laden escaped to the mountains…is Dubya tryin’ to artfully tell us something? Nah.)
